OntoClean Central

In 2000, Nicola Guarino and Chris Welty published a series of papers on what came to be named OntoClean, a methodology for ontology-driven conceptual analysis. The methodology has been receiveing increasing levels of attention in various communities, and on this page we hope to provide a central repository for information regarding OntoClean, to help keep the community in touch with how the methodology is being implemented, supported, used, extended, and referenced.

2004-11-18: Chris Welty gives an Ontolog Forum presentation on OntoClean. The OntoLog forum has been having weekly telecon seminars on ontology issues. OntoClean most cited Ontology paper

2004-06:Thompson ISIs essential science indicators finds finds ontology design an "Emerging Research Front" and ranks the OntoClean CACM paper as the most highly cited paper in this area. Nicola Guarino and Chris Welty were interviewed by Thompson-ISI to discuss the impact of OntoClean.

Best Paper Award at CAISE-04

2004-06-11:Giancarlo Guizzardi, et al's, OntoClean-based paper "An Ontologically Well-Founded Profile for UML Conceptual Models" wins the best paper award at CAISE-04 in Latvia.
